IPL & Laser Treatments

IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Gets the red out...and brown spots too!

IPL Photo Rejuvenation (aka. Photofacial) is a way to improve the color and texture of your skin without surgery. It can undo some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure - called photoaging. You may notice it mostly on your face, neck, hands, or chest

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments improve the appearance of:

  • Rosacea
  • Flushing of the face
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Age spots
  • Skin texture
  • Photo-aging
  • Mild acne scars
  • Reduces large pores
  • Reduces fine lines
Photofacials involve little to no “down time”.

Photofacials for Acne -

Photofacials also work wonders on any type of existing acne. It is specifically designed to treat active acne. It releases yellow, green and red light that is emitted in a series of short pulses. The yellow and green light destroy the P. bacteria that live in the skin and cause inflammation, while the red light directly targets the overactive sebaceous glands that cause outbreaks of pustules. This targeted heating deep in the skin causes shrinkage of the inflamed sebaceous glands and helps to prevent over-production of excess sebum. The light also stimulates collagen production to help reduce the appearance of acne scarring.

Laser Hair Removal

An Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy approach to eliminating unwanted hair provides the ultimate solution. Unlike many other hair removal methods, photo-epilation (hair removal using light) leaves your skin looking and feeling smooth and soft. Men, women and children may be treated with IPL. Treatment is customized according to hair color, texture and body location. Most skin types and hair color can be treated with some exceptions.
Laser hair removal is great for nearly any area of the body that has hair, including: Face, arms, back, legs, neck, underarms and bikini area.
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal:
  • Highly Precise - Because it uses concentrated light, the laser can easily target dark, coarse hairs while not damaging the surrounding skin.
  • Speed - The specialized lasers used for this treatment only take fractions of a second to treat multiple hairs at once. Generally, it can treat an area the size of a quarter every second. This means removing unwanted hair from your upper lip may only take a couple minutes and a larger area, such as the back or legs, can be treated in about one hour.
  • Effective - This treatment gives most patients permanent hair loss between 4-8 sessions. Once the hair follicles are destroyed, they will not grow back.

Laser Resurfacing & Skin Tightening

Don’t let the name alarm you. This superior new technology with fewer risks and a faster recovery time has emerged to reverse the early signs of aging. Counteract unrelenting sun damage, acne scarring, and stretch mark scarring with virtually no downtime and achieve a more youthful appearance.

This new aesthetic laser treatment does not require the long recovery time or anesthesia like its earlier, traditional counterparts.

What is Laser Resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing describes the use of a laser to create zones of heat injury to the skin. This triggers an increase in collagen production that results in skin tightening. Laser resurfacing has become the gold standard for treatment of facial wrinkles and loss of skin tone related to sun exposure and UV damage.

Laser Resurfacing for Wrinkles, Skin Tightening, and Acne Scarring

Laser resurfacing can significantly improve the appearance of sun damage and wrinkling of the skin. It is often the treatment of choice for acne scarring. Vertical lip lines around the mouth, crow’s feet around the eyes, surgical or burn scars, and brown spots related to sun exposure all can be greatly improved with laser resurfacing.

Decreased Downtime and Risk of Side Effects with Laser Resurfacing

Traditional laser resurfacing or deep chemical peels used over the last 30 years often resulted in prolonged downtime, requiring up to 4 weeks for skin to heal and up to several months for redness of the treated area. Laser skin resurfacing creates areas of laser-treated skin next to areas of untreated skin. These alternating zones decrease the downtime and side effects associated with traditional full ablative laser resurfacing. Healing time is greatly decreased to just 3 to 7 days, depending on the depth and intensity of treatment.

Can CO2 laser resurfacing be combined with other procedures?

Absolutely. Other light technologies, as well as injectables like Juvederm, Restylane, are used in conjunction with this fractional laser resurfacing treatment to optimize outcomes. Photofacial treatments immediately prior to laser skin resurfacing can be performed to enhance removal of broken blood vessels and brown spots.

How long does the CO2 laser skin resurfacing procedure take?

The length of CO2 laser skin resurfacing depends on the area being treated. Typical treatment of the face takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, plus prep time before and post-care after the procedures. Most patients are at our facility for about 2 to 2 ½ hours from check-in to check-out.

What is required after treatment? What are the aftercare instructions after CO2 laser skin resurfacing?

A significant amount of skin care is required by patients after CO2 laser skin resurfacing. Comprehensive post-care instructions are provided to clients during consultation and are reviewed with the client by our staff prior to the procedure and on the day of treatment. Proper skin care following the laser procedure is critical for proper healing, prevention of infections, and excellent outcomes. When wound care is followed, clients have downtime but should not be in pain during their recovery.
