Microblading

Spa400 NOW OFFERS MICROBLADING!

What is Microblading?

Unlike an eyebrow pencil that you wipe off at night before you go to sleep, eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure where a special handheld microblading eyebrow pen is used to draw on strokes that mimic the appearance of real brow hairs. While it’s a similar process to getting a tattoo, the ink that is used is far less concentrated than that of a regular tattoo and is specifically formulated for the microblading process.

Who should consider Microblading?

While there are thousands of eyebrow products on the market, those that tend to opt for microblading want fuller, natural-looking eyebrows but don’t want the hassle of filling them in every single morning, or the worry that the pigment won’t last all day

How long does Microblading last?

Microblading can last anywhere from one to three years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and the products that you use. However, touch-ups are commonly needed about once a year, especially for those with oily skin, as the ink tends to fade and blur faster.

What happens at a Microblading appointment?

After the area is sanitized and numbed, our Technician consults with the client on the eyebrow shape that will be drawn on. While you can bring in pictures like a haircut, we think that in order to create a true natural-looking brow, we like to follow the direction of the natural brow hairs and takes into consideration the client’s face symmetry and age. We also consult with the client on the pigment of the ink, which is chosen based off of the natural color of the brow hairs and the skin’s undertone.

What is the after-care like?

After-care instructions are not merely suggestions to take lightly, as it can have a direct impact on the brow look you end up with! Our Technician will go over after-care instructions with you. Proper aftercare is crucial in order to preserve the pigment and to to prevent blurring or fading,. We suggest keeping them dry from water and sweat for a week or longer, and to refrain from wiping. We also recommend applying our ointment once a day to speed up healing.

Right after the treatment is done, the brows will be darker and slightly red, but the redness and the pigment will slightly fade in color as the brows heal. Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed (~6 weeks). Your brows will go through many healing stages, all of which result in a beautifully healed brow.

Microblading

Can anyone try microblading?

People with healthy skin are good candidates for microblading. That goes a long way in tipping the scales in your favor for a safe treatment and satisfying results.

Since the procedure requires traumatizing the skin, if the skin is unhealthy, the outcome will be unpredictable and most likely not ideal. That means people with bleeding disorders, active inflammatory conditions near the eyebrows like eczema or shingles, allergies to ink, taking prescription acne medications like Accutane, using products with anti-aging ingredients like retinol, and taking blood thinners or supplements may not be good candidates for microblading. Always talk with your doctor before undergoing a treatment such as microblading.
