WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a protocol of manual techniques, such as thumb-and finger-walking, hook and backup and rotating-on-a-point, applied to specific reflex areas predominantly on the feet, ears and hands. These techniques stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems, supporting the body’s efforts to function optimally.
The effectiveness of reflexology is recognized worldwide by various national health institutions and the public at large as a distinct complementary practice within the holistic health field.
*Reflexology is NOT a massage or a foot rub. It does NOT diagnose or treat any condition.
At Spa400/InvisionHealth, you will be scheduled with Lynn Gray, a Nationally Board Certified Reflexologist with over 18 years experience and over 30 years experience in the medical field.
Full Foot Reflexology $65.00 1 hour – This session is a focused pressure technique. It is based on the premise that there are zones and reflexes on different parts of the body which correspond to and are relative to all parts, glands and organs. A full hour of foot reflexology concentrates on ALL the pressure points associated with the body and stress.
Foot Reflexology $45.00 ½ hour – Focuses on only the points associated with relaxation and does NOT go into the body systems. This session is perfect for elderly, children, pregnancy or someone who would like to see what a reflexology session is all about.
Ear Reflexology $45.00 ½ hour – Focuses on the reflexes that associate with imbalances in the spine and spinal cord reflexes. This is very relaxing as you lie comfortable on the table and has been known to be beneficial with overall stress and tension.
Hand Reflexology $45.00 ½ hour – Focuses on the reflexes that associate with imbalances of head, neck and shoulder reflexes. This is relaxing for those who hold tension in hands.
*Reflexology does not diagnose or treat, but our clients and physicians have seen positive results in the following conditions:
WHAT DOES RESEARCH SAY ABOUT REFLEXOLOGY?
Research studies in the U.S. and around the world indicate possible benefits of reflexology, particularly in reducing pain, enhancing relaxation, and reducing psychological symptoms, such as anxiety and depression.
WHAT DO SUMMARIES OF THE RESEARCH SAY?
One large review by Kunz and Kunz (2008) summarized 168 research studies and abstracts from journals and meetings from around the world. Many of these studies originated in peer-reviewed journals in China and Korea. All of the studies had information about the frequency and duration of the reflexology application. Based on the studies they reviewed, Kunz and Kunz concluded that reflexology may:
✔ Impact specific organs
For example, fMRI readings demonstrated an increase in blood flow to kidneys and to the intestines.
✔ Improve symptoms
In particular, positive changes were noted in kidney functioning with kidney dialysis patients.
✔ Induce relaxation
Though EEG measurements of alpha and theta waves, researchers saw that blood pressure was decreased, and anxiety was lowered.
✔ Reduce pain
Twenty-seven studies demonstrated a positive outcome for reduction in pain; e.g., AIDS, chest pain, peripheral neuropathy of diabetes mellitus, kidney stones, and osteoarthritis.
*In the United States reflexology does NOT diagnose or treat any condition. It is a separate modality from massage and is not a foot rub. It is NEVER to be in place of your Medical team, medication or treatment. Any alternative care you receive should ALWAYS be discussed with your licensed health care provider. Individual outcomes may vary by client.
